Warren and Zita saying Hi n Bye.

We tried caravanning about a year ago and borrowed one again this year. At two sites as newbies we were helped by old hands and this forum was mentioned over a few thank you pints of the local nectar.

Any way we've bought a Senator and had a look at the forum and gave it a wizz.

Rather than the friendly site we hoped for the warnings we received seemed to be true.

"regulars groups who post cryptic remarks"

"twin axle taunts" and more from our brief viewings.

Today we even see remarks about swinging and peoples height. We had been warned. So not the place for us, so thanks for those that posted a reply but no thanks.

I find I'm drawn back to this post as I find it very unfair. Lets look at the negative comments.

"Rather than the friendly site we hoped for the warnings we received seemed to be true."

All of Warriors posts were answered in a friendly way. If he is referring to the jocular posts aimed at a member then he has no reason to be offended, unless of course he is that member but posting under a different name.

"regulars groups who post cryptic remarks"

Err, it's a Forum, some of us have been talking to each other for years. A few of us have actually met and still keep in contact outside of the Forum.

""twin axle taunts" and more from our brief viewings"

Well VERY brief viewing as there was only one, made by myself and the word TWIN in capitals being the emphasised word nothing to do with twin axles which as most know I am the owner of. Maybe a little too cryptic?

"Today we even see remarks about swinging and peoples height"

Yes we had another post about swinging ,not the first and I'm sure not the last. The Forum will always have people trying to shock but I think everyone realized straight away and made light off it

As for the height thing ,how offensive is that? OMG someone remarks that two members are of similar height .The only way I could see Warrior being offended by that is if again if he was one ,or both of the members the comment was aimed at.

"We had been warned"

Nothing like pre conceived ideas to cloud your judgement is there?

So Warrior did you REALLY find you brief visit to the Forum THAT bad because if you did I'd suggest a name change to WORRIER 4X4 and trade the car in for something a little more sedate or are you not really who you say you are?

"we were helped by old hands and this forum was mentioned " - those people were probably forum members. Ive just done a search and cant find any rudeness shown to him, only politeness. His first post was only on the 10th, its only the 12th today. Takes all kinds Brian, good riddance comes to mind - sorry Worrier but you need to lighten up a little, surely life can't be that bad ;O). Keep taking the tablets mate, all will be well soon I'm sure.

Sorry but I can't help putting my comments on as well. Can I just say I only joined yesterday and having spent all morning yesterday (when I should have been working) reading through the comments and topics, can I say I think this idea is great. No only did I have a laugh but gained alot of helpful information which to me, as a newish caravanner, is great.

I shall definitely be looking in regularly. Good on yah!

PS If I hadn't liked this forum though, my manners would have prevented me from pointing out the fact, I just wouldn't have come back.

Hi Warrior

It was me who made a reference to height, nothing offensive in that as Brian says.

Anyway, goodbye and good luck.

Lisa

At Brixham CC site we were helped by a former forum member, towcar choices and this site came into the conversation.

Zita and I have looked at the Young Caravanners web site and decided to ask some questions here and gain from the experience of older more experienced caravanners.

No one has been rude to me! Some posts here seem to be part of some inner groups machinations and not make sense to outsiders.

The points Zita raised are just a few examples from what we have

read in the past days and were current.

Its not what we expected from an "enthusiasts" web forum. We have young twins and don't see that some of the comments we've seen relate to that of an informative help forum for young family caravanners.

Some of the humour is also not to our taste, we are also not "offended" by reference to height or swinging but those remarks and others suggest that like our helpers in Devon this site is not for us.

Five foot five sixteen stone rugby player, team mates thought my old Warrior and being called Warren made my scrum skills 4 x 4 like. "worrier" I'm not.

We decided yesterday after further reading to say thank you, but good bye. Did we offend as Zita posted?

Posts from the two "gentleman" above suggest that Zita was right. Did she say we were offended? Have I not said thank you for advice given?

If forum members have met and are in contact surely email or instant messaging is the place for corresponding and exchange of veiws.

We were warned that you get get trouble on this forum, as it is run by a magazine we decided to give it a go. We read the Forum etiquette rules and with respect I feel the gents above need to

do so again.

Neither make a lot of sense, but both seem to be abusive and reinforce our joint choice to rely on truly friendly campsite enthusiasts rather than arm chair grockles here.

Warren and Zita.

In all of my time in this Forum you are a first with that attitude. I can understand your reasoning of "Some of the humour is also not to our taste", but as a rugby player I'm sure you would appreciate His Moddyship would delete any of that kind of humour if we posted it to please you. May I also add as an "enthusiasts web forum" it does not mean we have to continually post about sink drainers and awning light bulbs. In your case the answer was simple, don't read the forums that aren't necessarily caravan orientated like the Chit Chat forum but like Graham W said, attention seeking comes to mind.

Sorry, can't get worried about this thread. Either it's him, as I'm inclined to think, in which case tough. Or it isn't, and this forum isn't suitable for them, in which case tough.

We don't ask for much on this forum, but are willing to give far more. All we ask for is to be sure, that the person we are communicating with, is a fellow caravaner, not a figment of a trolls mind.

I believe that they may, Lord B. Not quite sure though as there are only a few that patrol this, their un-natural habitat. Perhaps, if we set a few traps, we could bag one. This way we could lure in the others and have a better idea, what their physical dimensions are. Probably a lot shorter than we are led to believe.
