The caravan water system is NOT able to cope with mains water pressure, as you have found out.
To connect direct to the mains you MUST use a special hose which has a pressure reducing valve built in.
It is much more sensible to connect mains to a torbeck valve fitted to the aquaroll and use the vans submersible pump to draw water from the aquaroll into the van.

Yes the push fit fittings are easily replaced if they are damaged, your pipework may just push back into the fittings and re seal without having to change them.

In the front of the van was a whale plug with a hoselock on it so I plugged it in and turned it on.since found pump.

I'm in France as well, between Limoges and Brive. Where are you - might be able to offer some help if you are near.

Perhaps somebody has made the own version of a coupler to expel water from the pipework over winter using an air pump, hozelock connections being easier than anything else?
