hi all,

Richard & Faye here, We live in Swansea and have 3 kids, 15, 12 & 7mths, oh and not forgetting our 7 year old dalmation domino.

We are new to caravaning this year. We have a series 5 Bailey Pageant Provence which we tow with a Mondeo 2.5 v6. Being new to caravaning we find this site an excellent source of valuable advice and infomation and would like to thank you all for this.

We are members of the CC and have only used these sites so far, and must say that the sites visited have been outstanding.

Both being full time workers we dont get out in the van as much as we would like, but when we do we love every minute of it, who needs holidays abroad when we have such beatiful places to visit on our doorsteps.

We off to CC site in pembrey next weekend (not far from where we live but away is away)and are looking forward to the break. Depending on the weather it maybe the first attempt of putting our awning up - something I'm not looking forward to, but again a lot of useful tips have been gathered from you all which will hopefully prove to be beneficial. Suppose we will give onlookers a bit of a laugh, but you have all been there I suppose.

Once again thanks to everyone for all the usefull postings, you make it a lot easier for us newbies

take care and happy caravaning

Welcome to the forum Rich, you are well placed in Swansea for some great sites right on your doorstep.

Don't worry about the awning, it's not as difficult as some people make out, I manage to put mine up on my own so it can't be that hard.

Just a small point.

It's a forum rule that you let us all know in plenty of time, when you are going to put the awning up for the first. Tradition requires that you set out a few chairs, wine, nibbles ect. as part of the entertainment, also what odds you are giving on time to first cross word with other half.

seems a good tradition, maybe I will sit with the onlookers and enjoy the nibbles with a can of lager and leave the wife erect the awning, this then should also reduce the odds of cross words. There again dont think she would appreciate that may increase the odds.
