Hi ..I'm not new to the 'vanning comunity as I was forced to give up many years ago when some thieves thought that my Award Tristar was a very nice aquisition. So...after a long time without mobile wheels I now find that I have loads of time on my hands and decide it was time to get back on the road.
After searching the bottom end of the market ( no tealeaf was ever going to hurt me again ) I found an incredible Vanroyce EK450 and paid no more than the price of a top quality awning for it. I could not believe that a van built in'93 has so many forward thinking features in it, that some of the newer vans have only now got round to fitting. The outside has one tiny little dent and the rest of the body gleams..and everything still works !!! . Have been on three Caravan Club trips and one rally event this summer in it and still cannot believe the quality of the craftsmanship employed in it...superb. So back on the road again with more chains locks and trackers onboard...and unfortrunatley a large bunch of keys.

Know what you mean we had a van stolen from outside of our house a few years back it had a hitchlock and wheel lock on it too. Behind a locked 5 bar gate and our car parked across the front of the gate. They took the side fence up to get it out and we were in bed in the house that night. Welcome to the Forum good bunch of folks on here.

Hi Barry, welcome to the Practical Caravan forum and well done for re-joining the caravanning fraternity.
Van Royce were top line craftsman built caravans in their day and a good example will have many years of trouble free touring left, they were like the Rolls Royce of the caravanning world and are classics. You could always place a self adhesive reflector over the small dink if it bothers you, that's the usual tip from forum members.
It's nice to see another rally goer on the forum, we rally with the C&CC and I would recommend caravan rallies to anyone who has never tried them. I hope that you will enjoy using this forum.

At the moment just counting the cost of fuel every time we travel...wow....2.2 Vectra SRi copes very well with the towing and I have to keep my eye on the speedo or I can easily find myself doing 70...ooops. Re- assessing the loading of the van as the nosweight is already quite heavy...but at present I am very happy to pile everything into the car. Planning a 2 week break down Devon /Cornwall using the CL structure and am very pleased to see how many now have electricity for about a £12 a night..well we have bought a brilliant little 12" digital tele. Mostly looking forward to travelling down on a Sunday mid morning looking at the jams south of Bristol of the poor souls who have to be back at the grindstone on Monday...happy days.
