Hi,I hope I don't make you yawn with a little history. I returned to caravanning in the middle September 1997 after an absense of some 6yrs.I relaunched with a 1992 Fleetwood Colchester 1850 Twin Axle (a fabulous Old Lady & bone dry throughout)pulled by my 1997 Volvo T5 CD Auto.We took out the rear dinnette and dropped in a 3/4 mattress. We (that is to say my caravanning partner & I ) have just up-graded to a 2001 Elddis Crusader SuperSirocco.A large 4 berth twin axle used as a very comfortable 2 berth.
For the benefit of you Eagle Eyed weight watchers (caravan & car match),Yes I am legal, and no my car does not weigh what Towsafe have it listed as (any of the five or more alleged weights)or for that matter what Volvo Cars UK would have me believe!!!.I have been towing large trailers and caravans since 1964 and work to the principle of the Tail never ever Wagging the Dog. My maximum tow weigh is 1600kgs(this is below the actual VOSA Dynamic Axle Weighbridge Weight in the EU Directive 95/48/EC (kerbweight trim) and my maximum hitch weight is 75kgs,the caravan will never be loaded beyond the 1600kgs limit.
When the trusty Volvo (now 192,000 miles & still goes like stink)has had her day I will up-grade to something that I can make more use of the MTPLM of 1750kgs with.I like the Volvo and may well look for a 3/4yr old D5.

Welcome to the Practical Caravan forum TR
As the happy owner of an Abbey 620 which we use as a two berth we also appreciate the extra space provided by a large t/a caravan.
