can anyone advise on the best places to go at this time of year where can windsurf, go mountain biking and there is plenty of interest in the area. I realise that it isn't the best time to go as everywhere will be busy but it is the only 2 weeks available. Will very much appreciate any suggestions for sites etc

Thanks in advance

How far do you want to drive? You can wind surf in northern France on the beaches in Normandy - but the mountain biking may be a bit tame there. If you want good mountain biking country, and wind-surfing then you may be best finding a site around a lake and for that you'll need to travel further south.

I know the site Les Pecheurs at Roquebrune on the Mediterranean is ideal for both. You've a lake across the road from the site, where you can hire boards (or take your own), the Med is just a few kilometres away, and the mountains of the Esterel massif are on the doorstep.

If I were you I would go south! Obviously you've the traffic to contend with in popular tourist areas, but you'll have better weather, and better countryside.

Thanks Val.

I will check on that site as sounds really good. I normally go in Sept/Oct when its quiet but am going with son and grandkids and this 2 weeks is the only ones they can get. We have booked ferry Dover- Dunkerque so are nearly there LOL

There's good wind-surfing all along that part of the Med - we used to go, years ago, to Cavalaire, and at the eastern end of the beach there were many places hiring out boards and giving instruction. Inland, from Cavalaire, too, there are lots of forest roads which would be great for mountain biking. There are a few sites there - Selection Camping at the right end of the beach, Cros du Mouton - up in the hills, so you could bike down into town (and walk back up???) or Camping de la Baie which is right in the middle of town. Cavalaire tends to be just a bit quieter, than the Frejus/St Raphael/St Tropez sites, being 'off the main drag' with less traffic. We have friends who live nearby in La Croix Valmer - and it's a lovely rather under-rated part of the Mediterranean coast.
