Hi ernieuk.
We have the Honda CRV 06 plate 2.2 deisel and tow a 2007 Bailey Pageant Champagne with no problems at all.
Driving solo we get approx.42mpg.Towing, its about 30ish.
We have a detachable swan neck towbar fitted to ours.
The MTPLM of the Bailey is 1435kg(although we never load the van fully).
I believe that Honda give a maximum towing limit of 1500kgs for the Honda so should be well within the manafacturers limits.
Hope this helps.
Adrian.

The towing weight of the honda depends on what year and which model.

The latest manuel version will tow 2000kg, and can take a 100kg nose weight.

You need to research, some models if i recall correctly only carry 80kg nose weight, in my opinion poor for a 4x4.

Your right Ray it does depend on the year and model.
Mines the 06,and has a towing limit of 1500kg and a 100kg limit on towball.
I may be wrong Ray,but i wouldnt class the CRV as a 4x4.
Mines a permanent front wheel drive, and the rear wheels kick in electronicaly if the front wheels begin to lose traction.
I chose the CRV as a compromise between a car and a 4x4.

yes i know what you mean.
problem is what is it?
A SUV?
A 4x4?
I think it is both, but not a heavy 4x4, so what is it?
My xtrail spends most of its live just running the front wheels, stays permanently in auto.
We could do with creating a new category for it?

Its the best car yet!!!
But then its mine so I am biased
Its the 2WD Titanium and as it was a Ford Direct low mileage (3000) it has lots of extras and is superb to drive
Although its smaller overall than the XT its got a longer wheelbase and wider track but with a lot less rear overhang and a smaller but adequate boot as a result
It is very stable on tow and the van rides almost level with very slight nose down attitude
Its the 136 bhp diesel that I have and I had the 150bhp XT but the torque is the same
The engine is very smooth and the ride is less harsh than the XT
My wife is disabled and its so much better having the handbrake on the driver's side of the tunnel
The seats support her well and she doesn't tend to lean/fall over onto me as in the XT and I don't need to push her over to get the handbrake on/off
We loved the XTs but for us no comparison
Strangely enough we are off topic but it was a choice between the Honda CRV and the Kuga that was decided again by access for my wife etc

Late as usual with reply! I tow an Abbey Vogue 2 495 (1485 Kg max wt) with my CRV 2.2 Diesel (06 plate) I get around 30-32 mpg towing and I must say that it makes a great tow car. I would add that I generally drive at around 50-58 mph on M ways for economy and safety.I'd recommend it to anyone with a similar weight van.
