Hot water

Having just taken delivery of my (new to me) 1996 Bailey Ranger 500/5. we set of for Easter and set up on site with no problems. Cold water from the aqua roll pump ran OK but when we switched on the water heater the pump seemed to run continuously emptying the aqua roll. On advice I readjusted the pressure switch until it clicked but this has not solved the problem. Water dribbled out of the overflow from the hot water system and even when I drained some water off, within seconds it started again. Any suggestions please

many thanks Roger

Roger I looks like you may have the same problem as me , I have a 1998 Bailey Pagent Imperial, water leaking out of the carver hotwater drain valve when i first primed the system this year.

After a lot of moaning unsrewing the main drain valve (bottom left hand corner of the carver outlet)checking the rubber seal, water stilled poured out when i started the pump up.

The caravan had just returned from its usual yearly service and someperson had left the pressure relief valve open (Situated on the top left hand corner ) slight swist with a small screwdriver the valve sprang close and the water system returned to normal no more leaking.

Hope this will clear up your problem.

reards Roy.

Hi Roger

Where's the water ending up coming from? Is it a tap or purely from the heater overflow?
Hi Mick

The water is coming from the drain plug, bottom left hand side of the Carver unit. I have checked the closing of the fast drain plug (top left of Carver unit)but it makes no difference. Could it be a simple as a perished washer on the drain plug? Can't try repalacing it until I next visit the van which is on site 100 miles away from me.

Regards

Roger

I've had the same problem. The O ring on the drain plug had not seated properly. The problem was solved with a new O ring.

Hi Roger. From your description it would appear that the seal has gone on your drain plug. I had a seal split a few years ago on my Bailey. You can get spares from most dealers, two in a pack from what I remember. Or it could be that it isn't seated properly as Dusty has suggested. It should only be done up lightly, you don't need to over tighten it.
