How do you remove aerosol graffiti from your caravan ?

My in-laws have had their caravan 'decorated' with spray paint overnight. Has anyone else had this happen and if so what did you use to remove it ?

The caravan was parked in their garden and not on a site.

Any suggestions would be most welcome.

I have not had this done but try T-cut or car polish and try to polish it off. Dont try thinners etc as this might remove the vans paint as well. Braso works well but try all these methods first on a small area incase of damage.

Never had to remove grafiti but we had the outside of our house treated and the caravan [ parked at the bottom of the garden ] was covered with a fine layer of the stuff as well.

The firm did ask us to take it to their yard and they had professional valeters come in and clean it for us.

We reckon it had been something of the Tcut variety .

I would ask a professional valet firm for a quote - and if it is horrific talk to your insurers about this

Cellulose thinners from halfords will remove it very easily without harming the vans paintwork, but if the van is older than 2 or 3 years, you will find that the area from which the graffiti is removed will be lighter, as the thinners will remove some of the oxidised paint as well, so you will probably have to "cut back" the remaining paintwork using a propriety cutting compound such as "T cut".

Go for the T cut made for metalic paint finishes or use Farleca compound, you can get this from any good motor factors or car paint suppliers, as both of these are less agressive than the "standard formula" T cut.

The work needs to be done ASAP. The use of a really good power washer used carefuly will remove this paint some time.

If the van has had a silicone polish used on it it might come off easier than you think.

T-cut or the like will work but can be a slow process.

After it's cleaned off a couple of good polishes with a good silicone based polish will help prevent stop paint sticking if they came back for a second try ;-)

I'm with George on this one. Buy some cellulose thinners from halfords and put it on a rag. run gently to remove the spray paint.

Keep changing the rag as it will smear the paint when it absorbs too much. Finish off with a good wash and polish

Hi, I had simular but to my X-trail, thought i would be clever by easing the thicker bits, gave up ,took it to Nissans.They said if i had left it to them it would be only a few pounds instead of the quoted

Thats a defo on the thinners. It will do it, but go easy and stay on the graffiti.

Hi Mike no one has told you about ACETONE it is a type of thinners but not as strong as cellulose which can damage the finish on the van

ACETONE will dilute with water so you can have it as strong as you want , when all the marks are off finish with T cut aubrey D
