Hello.

Once you've stopped laughing at my questions can you help. I have a Hobby 650 Prestiege about 3 or4 years old and it seems to have everythng on it. I can' however work out how the hot water works nor the toilet.

Hot water first. We have an onboard water tank, central heating etc plus 2 sinks and a shower all with hot as an option on the tap. After leaving the tap on for 4 or 5 minutes still no hot water. Can someone take pity on me and tell me what to do? Never owned a Caravan before so never had to deal with this stuff. Also, how does the toilet work, its a thetford and I know it needs chemicals which it has with it as samples, naturally all in German though.

Any help and the idiots guide most welcome.

Regards

Gary

Hi Gary,

First if you are on mains electric, there should be an electric on/off switch that will power the imersion heater.

In gas mode, make sure you remove the cover off the flue on the outside of your van.

You should have 2 circuler controls. 1 is for the electric fire (500w 1000w 2ooow) & the other for hot water on gas.

Turn the outer wheel so that it clicks, a green light should illuminate to show that the boiler has ignited. The inner control is the thermostat.

There will be a gas control knob under one of the bed lockers or cooker, if the boiler does not ignite make sure that the control has not been turned off.

Good luck

The Hobby comes, as standard, with a Truma Therme, electric only, water heater which should be situated under one of the seats.

Alongside the heater there are two drain taps, ensure these are both closed before using.

The heater is turned on from the red push switch on the control panel above the hob, which should illuminate when operational.

If the loo fluid provided is Thetford blue, the recommended dose is 60ml per 10 litres added to the waste tank. On hot summer days I increase this.

Dependant upon which loo is fitted, the flush water filler cap usually doubles as a measure for the fluid.

If you spill any fluid wash it off immediately as it can stain.

The Truma Therme is only 5 litres and with an element of only 300 watts does take a while to heat.

I changed mine to a 14 litre, 850 watt Truma Elektroboiler.
