... will it take for me to get from Peterborough to Chatsworth CC site on Friday afternoon if i leave by 4pm bearing in mind they have no late night arrival area.

Green flag states about 1hour 45 minutes i think and the CC route planner says similar (93 miles, which is optimistic to say the least.

Multimap says the same, however considering the number of B roads round Chatsworth and the time of day I would imagine it would take a lot longer...

when you get to Chatsworth, it is a narrow entrance with passing places, and there is a little hump-backed bridge to watch out for at the entrance. Mark (",)

Personally, I would double that time. Road works on the A1 and M1 are causing large tail backs that may effect your journey. Plan a route that avoids motorways and dual carriageways and city/town centers for best progress at that time. Not easy I know, and you will be tempted to go by the fastest route (you may even make it) but to be sure, cross country is best.

We've been there twice before and it taken two hours, the first time we fell out with the wardens because we got there two early but that was years ago.

Hi Neil

We live at RAF Cottesmore - just down the road from you - it took us 2 hours when we went at Christmas, and the traffic was horrendous!

The way we always go is A47 from Peterborough towards the M1 north, come off M1 at junction 29, take A617 towards Chesterfield, then A619 to Baslow.

Is this the route you take? it is really straighforward and traffic normally flows ok once you are on the M1, but as Lol says, there may be roadworks (it is a bank holiday after all)!!

Hope this is of some help!

Have a safe journey Neil and good luck with the traffic.

We tried to get Chatsworth but fully booked so off to Presthope instead - hope it's a nice site!

If you are setting off around 4pm then I would think you would take between two and a half and three hours dependant on your passage out of Peterborough. Enjoy your break.

Hi Neil

Change of plan - I called the CC today and they had a cancellation for Chatsworth for this weekend, so we are going tomorrow (friday) till Monday. If you are wandering around the site we have a Bailey Senator Wyoming, twin axle, with a Dark Green Land Rover Discovery, L Reg.

Perhaps we may bump into each other and can introduce ourselves?

What outfit do you have?

Years Back I used to have get on the M1 at journey 24 and come off at journey 27.

On a Friday at 2.30pm if I left 20 mins later I get hold up in the rush to get home.

You see 3.00pm on a Friday afternoon the M1 North between journey 24 to 30 is like a car park and anthem more so on a bank holiday.

Well lets hope that was all you forgot!

We were right next to the play area in front of the river.

And yes, the ducks ate us out of 2 loaves of bread! they must have walked miles and miles round the site, bit like a sponsored walk!

Did you see the AA lorry on either Sunday or Monday around 2.40pm? (sorry can't remmber which day it was) - some poor souls had their car on the lorry and the van being towed behind - they were on their way home though as we watched them leave the site!
