The small roof light above the kitchen (not hekki type)has a fly screen/blind. However when I unclip it, it wont retract back into the edge. Is there anywhere where I can find out how to tension the spring to that it will pull itself back.

Thank you in advance for your advice.

Linda

Sorry not an answer to the problem, but I too woould like to know if you can retension the flyscreen in a big Heki without having to take it out of the roof.

Hi Linda - a difficult one! I dismantled and washed/cleaned/re-tensioned all the window blinds but the roof light ones defeated me. I could not see how to retension them - sorry! - John

Hi Linda, yes they can be re tensioned, i will try and explain, remove the retaining screws from inside the van, the inner frame should come away, this carries the blackout blind, turn this over so your looking at the underside, you will see at the roller end a white capping that covers the roller, this clips of with care, that will expose the roller, you then need a couple of pair of Long nose pliers, ease the roller spindle out of it's seating carefully, one end is flat, this is the end you turn to re tension, with the blind rolled up give the flat end about a doz or so turns, you have to hold the spindle with one pair of pliers then turn the flat with the other, turning and releasing in sequence, then when you feel you have enough tension, you have to replace the spindle in it's receiver whilst holding the tension on until you get the flat relocated, once it,s in place test the blind, repeat the operation if necessary,it's a fiddly job, but can be done with care.I,ve done many of these in the course of my work, it's a lot easier to do than explain, this of course applies only to the standard roof light blind.

Many thanks for that. I've printed your instructions off and shall take them up to the caravan. Will let you know how I get on. Again - thank you for responding.

I,ve just done on sunday after returning from france, on mine which i think are made by seitz you need to remove a cover from above the roller inside the housing first then if you look above the surround you say to remove you can see to end of the roll and using a small allen key you can push the rod in and lever the roller out, i found that the roller is metal with a plastic bush which holds the spring in position this is on the tensioning end of the roller, this bush was spinning in the roller so everytime you tried to retension the spring it would spin, there in a groove in the bush so with a flat blade screwdriver i applied some pressure on the roller which made an indentation stopping the bush from spinning, they now work fine. by the way mine were a bit dirty so i soaked them in vanish for ten mins rinsed and dried and they look as good as new

hope this helps mike
