How to use the lock?

I have a question. There is a lock on the toilet door that opens from the outside after pressing a button. You can close it from the inside by pulling the button from the inside. s-l1600[1].jpgIf the lock is closed from the inside, what's the point, it can also be opened from the outside.

I think it is to stop kiddies getting stuck but if it such an issue, fit a bolt on the inside.

Of course there is no problem. I thought there was an instruction from the manufacturer of the lock. Someone may have read this manual.

Is it not simply to stop the door swinging open in transit, rather than a toilet cubical privacy feature?

If you need the latter, is it not viable to put one or more "bolts" on the inside.
We intuitively know if the other one of us is in there.

I had this on a previous van. All decent bathroom locks have an override in case someone has to get in. Is it not the case with this one that it is an indicator from the outside that it is occupied.

My Wyoming lock clearly showing the external safety release. Use a coin.Nothing wrong with the design?

Don't have this type fitted to my van. But have had similar on my Bathroom door at home. Easily open from the outside, in case of an emergency but, the fact that it's locked shows bathroom occupied, not for security.

It seems that this is not the case for me. The button is recessed on the outside is it a signal that someone is inside or a signal that no one has come in after the transportation of the caravan?

So it’s not fail safe?

Yes. right. I also have these on the shelves and cupboards. but unlike the toilet, no one needs privacy in the upper cabinets.:giggle:

Is this not a case of making a mountain out of a molehill?
Lets face it, a caravan is a very small area and it seems quite obvious that when the toilet is in use it will be noticed that one of the occupants is missing!!!
It is not as if a whole football crowd is passing the door !!!!!!!!!!
