Am considering booking the Huttopia Versailles site in the middle of July to use as a base to visit Paris and the Palace of Versailles. The reviews I have read are mostly related to the campsite rental properties and I can only find one review for a caravan. We have an Odyssey 540 and won't be using an awning but if good weather we will use our sun canopy. Has anyone else used this site recently? Thanks in anticipation .

Some reviews here - but I wouldn't leave it too long. The middle of July is peak time in France - and it's likely to be a popular site, being so convenient for Paris.

Hi
We stayed there for 5 nights last August. The location is great for visiting the palace which is about 30mins walk away. Porchfontaine RER station is 6 mins walk away with trains every 20 mins or so into Paris tickets were about 6 euros return. The site was quite full with lots of different nationalities and had a nice feel to it. We booked an espace pitch with electric, there was plenty of room for the 23ft van with the awning roof, tables, chairs etc. The site is sloping so pitching may be an issue without a mover (or 2 strong lads in our case) but most of the van pitches seemed to have a level area marked out with random tree stumps, so care is needed. There's a small pool, takeaway, internet access and a few other facilities, not that we had time to use them. There are two or three nicely designed shower blocks which were cleaned daily...queues at normal busy times but fine if you are flexible. The staff were friendly and helpful, access was easy from the N12 dual carriageway avoiding driving near the palace itself. We would use this site again for visiting Paris.

You're welcome :)
Not sure if you've been to Paris before so thought I'd mention: Versailles palace was very busy when we visited, we queued for about an hour just for the tickets. We visited on one of the days that the fountains were switched off as it was so much cheaper for the 4 of us than on the special event days. We only had to pay for 2 of us as under 25's get in free with proof of age (not that they asked)..also we could have booked online before we went to save time. We booked online for the Eiffel Tower which saved us queuing at the entrance but we still had to wait about 45mins on the 2nd floor for the lift to top.
Hope you enjoy your holiday
Julie
