HYMER Nova 470

Hi Ann,

As you haven't had an answer to this in over 24 hours it seems the answer is no.

Hymer do seem to come out well in surveys.

Hope you buy it and enjoy it,

James

Hi James

Thank you for your reply. We have now looked at the Hymer and decided against it. There is so little work surface for food preparation. It also has 'foam' seating! We are used to UK models and the seating being 'sprung'! Waiting until the 2007 models (UK) are available before deciding further.

Hi Ann

We went to the NEC in February to purchase a new van as our Avondale is now 5 years old.We looked at various British vans and at the end of the day we ordered a Hymer 570 GS.The build quality was fantastic, far better than the British vans.

I can appreciate your comments on the food prep area and the seating, however I do feel that the build quality is a higher priority.

Our Avondale has had a new oven door, cracked shower tray, cracked wash-hand basin,Sliding door has fallen off,2 new worktops, various broken door catches,3 new water pumps, the washroom walls needed resealing and the floor has delaminated.

All the above faults have been repaired under warranty. We are no way heavy handed with our van and do treat it with care.Other minor faults have also occurred, but as I am in the building trade a lot of the faults I have rectified myself,so avoiding further visits to the dealer!.

Since ordering our van I have always made a point of asking other Hymer owners on site their views and they all have given the van top marks.

Reading the recent problems on the forum with British vans makes me feel that we have made the right decision regarding the purchase of the Hymer.

Hope this information helps.

Regards Nidge

Yes the Germans don't semm so interested in cooking. I am surprised about the foam seating and wonder if springs are not a common option. Certainly the Eriba we have on order seems to have it as a standard part of the French specification and I would expect the UK spec to be more inclusive. Very likely with an oven and maybe a microwave to upgrade the kitchen.

We bought a Hymer motorhome in 1986 and kept it for 6 years. Fairly basic by today's standards but nothing ever broke.
