Hyundais have a reputation for feeling cheap despite the level of equipment. They are usually rugged but not particularly economical. The 5 year warranty is good though. I looked at a Hyundai once but didn't like the look or feel of it. Maybe I'm just a tart???

My mate has one and its his second he wouldnt change altho he like the look of my Sorrento.

He uses and abuses it and it stands up to most things he does with it he tows trailers rather than caravans but only has praise for it.

I dont think it looks to bad either tho prefer the Sorrento

Hi Anthony, we purchased one last year and have done approx 8000 miles in it. We recently did a trip to Scotland some 480 miles for us and my wife who suffers a bad back, said it was the most comfortable trip she has had. So far have had no problems. It averages about 27 mpg which is a mix of around town and towing. It tows our Senator Wyoming with ease, you dont know its on the back. You dont get all the gadgets and gizmos you get on some of the other 4x4s but if you can live without them its great. The 5 year warranty and price tag swung it for us. Mark

Get one now! My other half changed his ageing Landcruiser Colorado for a Terracan last year and spent the winter worrying how it would cope with our twin-axle which has an increased MTPLM of 1800kg.

Our Whitsun holiday was at Sonnenberg in Germany which involved quite a steep series of sharp bends for 4km and as our model is an automatic he was worried about the gear-box (or whatever, I'm not technical) overheating. No problem. The car handled brilliantly the whole time and without a caravan attached can be very nippy.

The only problem we have had was before we went away when the windscreen wipes stopped working, but with the warranty this problem was fixed promptly and efficiency by our local dealer.

Ed,

Sorry to hear you have had problems. Why would they not honour the warranty. I would be interested in your comments as we have a Santa Fe as well as the Terracan, and forewarned is forearmed.(Have I got that saying right?).

I'd be interested in that too Ed - I have a Santa fe as well.

Please let us know what sort of problems you had & why Hyundai wouldn't honour the warranty.

When I had my Santa Fe back when they 1st came into the UK in the late `90 early 2000 they were very prone to burning clutches out. This was discussed quite a bit in a Santa Fe forum with owners from both here and USA.

Hyundai 90% of the time blamed 'driver misuse' as the reason and refused to replace any FOC under guarantee.

What the situation is now I have no idea as I got rid of mine before I fell foul of a second clutch failier.

At the time I was hardly towing anything and even when I did it was light weight towing

hi

We had a Trajet on hire in Spain afew months ago and the clutch was smelling awful. When I took it back the mechanic just said it's ok it's a Hyundai the clutches are useless. it's only hearsay, but

"Any thoughts on hyundai terracan all replys welcome".

Yup, worthy though it may be, you'll probably be happier with the Sorento.

What was the Vice Chairman of The Caravan Club towing vehicles onto and off the rally field at The National this year? ........................ Yes a Hyundai Terracan. Good enough for him, good enough for me. Mark
