I dont want to sit here and go into all of this because I get bored typing it all in so a short version it is,

Collected our 2006 Compass Corona 556 in july no major problems but there was a few smaller things

- None of the door catches worked properly sticking not latching etc.

- The heater casing not attached properly keep popping off when I tried to fix it.

- O/S/F grab handle kept moving and gap between handle and front panel.

- Stress fractures and a split in A frame cover.

Nothing to bad you would think it went back for work to be done two weeks after original collection date, when they called to say work was done we went to collect it.

- Door catches were just snipped of not adjusted as needed (plastic cut off was found on front window sill).

- The heater had just been drilled threw and a couple of self tappers suck in the wall (stuck out like a saw thumb).

- O/S/F handel not touched

- A frame not touched

So as I see it work not done and work that was done not to satisfactory standard, van was left for work to be done !

we were called back again as work was done checked inside of van yes door catches were replaced and heater was fixed to wall ok but still see holes in casing where they drilled and it looked as if a chippy had emptied a bag of saw dust all over the van NOT IMPRESSED and grab handle and A frame still not touched apparently forgot about them even after sending repeated e-mails to them.

Van still with them now and waiting, in the mean time I paid for and have lost out on five months worth of storage cancelled three weekends away and to be honest I just want my money back now.....

What do you think......

I think you sit down and talk to the dealer about what you want. I also think you should tell them (in writing)that you will give them one last chance to get the work done to a high standard or you will seek legal advice.

In the meantime I would contact the a solicitor about the possiblity of looking to get some sort of compensation for your losses.

Cheers

You haven't taken it to a caravan repair centre in The Vale of Glamorgan, South Wales, have you?? I have had experiences there, where warranty work should have been done and they had the van for several weeks.. I was called to say the work was done and went to collect it, but the work not completed. When I complained and refused to sign their 'Work done to satisfaction' sheet, they kept the van to complete the work but on collection after the work was complete, I found that the wet locker was full of water that spilled everywhere ( I mean, not a small pool of water but the deep tray was 3 inches of water and that was after I'd driven home. I complained and was told that "I must have left the locker door open by mistake". I am certain this was sobotage as since then we have had torrential rain, have driven through torrential rain and I have washed the van twice with finger on the endo of hosepipe. No rain could hit the seal with as much pressure as that, but NO water. Logical deduction - sabotage. On the first service, my brakes weren't checked or adjusted and at the second service I went elsewhere to be told that the brake cable freeplay that should be 5-8mm was actually over 25mm. My brakes weren't engaging and as a result, the damper piston in the A-frame worked its socks off and eventually failed causing a crack in the A-frame cover. I now have to fork out for new damper, but luckily the other damage is warranty covered and more importantly, my wife and I are still alive !!

I can sympathise with the niggling problems you are having, and they are a real pain. We had the same, but have persevered with them. I do agree with the issue of having paid so much for a new van.. it should be right. Quality Control has failed in your caravan's case. I would suggest that you may be entitled to refund under the Sale of Goods Act, relating to Faulty Goods, but it would be better to seek proper legal advice, I think.

Just phone Compass ( Explorer Group ) I think. Tell them the story, how you are out of pocket etc. They have probably paid for the work to be done under warranty so let them chase it for you.

Ok so I went to see the dealer today to officialy let him know how I felt, he was very good told him that I would like my money back as it has now got to the stage where I am a bit narked with them. He recomended that if I wanted to follow that route to contact CC and trading standards but offered me a deal to say sorry if I did not pursue it he would fit a motor mover and give me the new porch awning that I want. To be honest the problems with the van are not that bad its the way that the dealer has delt with it.

Not sure what to do, but I do want a mover..........

Thanx to all for your advice.
