Identifying an older caravan

Hi, please can anyone tell us how we id a sprite CI caravan, we believe it to be mid-late 70's, its a 4 berth, has been given to us and needs some tlc. We'd like to know if there's any hidden id marks, it measures 12ft in length and only has Sprite CI on the rear and front. Many thanks Ann

Ann - if it is of any use to you all caravans manufactured after 1979 had to be fitted with a rear fog light as standard so if there is a fog light in the lighting arrangement to the rear it will be post 1980.

thanks but theres no fog light, how would you know the name if its not on the van anywhere?

what colours is it as they changed there colours a few times it may help someone identify it for you.

there were green ones tan ones and brown fronted ones and maybe more,

the colours are a sort of cream at the bottom and grey at the top, nothing very spectacular, the main reason I thought we might need the model is for buying bits and peices for it. If we do get it finished an awning would be nice and I assumed it had to be the right one for the caravan.

Ann, does it have glass or plastic windows, and if it's 12ft long then it will probably be an Alpine.

We had a Sprite Musketeer many moons ago, our had glass windows with blue front and back and white sides. Front what I remember it was about a 1978 model.

I have a feeling that you are not allowed to tow a van on the highway that has glass windows, I am sure someone will be able to confirm this though.

im sure that cant be right. there are lots of older caravans with glass windows still in use and being towed... look at the classic caravan clubs, the majority of the vans' there have glass windows. You may be right however. The tan front sprites were late 70's and the dark brown fronts were 80's. i think the green fronts were early 70's.
