Hi Everyone, I couldn't find any topics on the subject line and would like to know if anyone else has done the same. After a long search I couldn't find (without going to GREAT expense) an in car camera outfit that I could use when towing my 120GT. I wanted front and rear cameras to record all the "bad drivers" when driving along.
The problems I had to overcome was:
[ol]
[*] When I hitch up; now the car rear view is now obstructed. This camera had to be transfered to the caravan. (do I install a new system into the caravan also?)
[*] How to connect the rear view caravan camera through the tow electrics.
Yes there are systems on the market to do what i wanted and prices I was being quoted were £600+. This was just not cost effective and to run another wireing loom along side the original 13-pin wasn't too much of an issue. This was begining to be a waste of time and would have just been more trouble than it's worth. :S
I finally settled on an independant system (or two). This worked out alot cheaper and hassel free with wiring. I have two independant in-car camera systems with three hard wired (switched) power supplies (one front / one back of the car and one in the caravan). When the caravan is hitched up all that needs to be done is; slide the rear view camera from it's mount in the car and slide it into the rear view mount in the caravan. Job done!
Having in-car/caravan cameras make such a difference to how other drivers behave. Even more so when you have "in-car camera recording" stickers in your windows. B) Beware all those bad drivers big brother is recording you everywhere! :woohoo:
