In Praise of Good Dealers

We picked up our new Bailey Peagent Champagne yesterday and thought I would share how impressed we are with the dealer we bought it from.

We were really impresed not only with the deal they put together for us but the level or service was 2nd to none. Today we have had a courtesy call to check all is well. The one thing we did notice with them is that they were certainly selling an unprecedented level of caravans, indeed in the space of 2 days of our original visit they had sold out of every caravan we had been interested in. We actually got the Champagne only because it was a cancelled order. In some cases we were quoted delivery dates of Nov/Dec if we hadn't have been able to have van we now have. When we collected yesterday there were at least 5 caravans waiting to go out that day.

We went to another dealer today not a million miles from them to look at their accessory shop. The contrast was remarkable, this much larger dealer had hardly anyone around and the 4 sales men were just milling around.

So I would thoroughly recommend you give them a try if you are in the market for a new caravan. I should add that I am in no way connected to them, just thoroughly delighted with our purchase.

Catherine please do not take this the wrong way but I think the heading should have been phrased as "Wonderful Caravan Dealer" or similar as I am sure there are many other first rate dealers throughout the UK.

My wife and I bought our Bailey new in June this year from Sunnhaven Caravans in Swansea and we had virtually the same quality of service. Therefore if the heading was more general all satisfied customers could contribute to this topic and give praise where it is indead needed as we often hear of bad publicity but very rarely praise.

Hi Catherine,

I agree with Colin, but on your main point about CS I know what you mean, they were the same with us , although they do seem to get cancelled vans quite often , as that is what we were told with ours, so far the workshop and servicing has been excellent as well.

I have to agree with this.We eventually decided to buy privately, second hand but had spent months trawling the local dealers.

They were by far the best on price, and more knowledgable than many larger outfits who seemd to use weekend staff with no knowledge of caravans.

If we are able to buy new in the future I would travel the bit extra and go there for sure.

We have just purchased a 2003 Bailey champagne from Salop Caravans at Cosford, this is the 4th van we have had and always from the same dealership, Bob who is the salesman has always given us 1st rate service before & after sales and on speaking to him i found out that if you purchase a 2nd hand van from them you can get it serviced or if any work needs doing during the 1 year warrenty period you can take it to a reputable dealer near to where you live rather than have to travel back to Cosford and they pay them direct.

Your not alone Pat I have read it 3 times and I am still no wiser, unless of course it's left out on purpose so that we can all put our own into the heading ???

I hope that you continue to get good service from your dealer. I've never had a problem with a dealership in getting a good deal or taking delivery. The proof of the pudding will be if anything ever goes wrong - this is the judge of a good dealership !

I'm still struggling with 2 pages of problems with my 2006 Bessacarr Cameo after 3 trips to the dealer where I bought it. Don't forget either that many of the constituent parts of the caravan e.g. cooker, toilet, water heater etc. etc. only have a 12 month warranty not the full 3 years offered by the caravan manufacturer.
