Insurance question...

Hi
I recently got a quote for insurance and one of the questions that got me a discount was "is the caravan stored on a CASSOA storage site". To that question, I answered "Yes" because at the minute it is.
However, my question is this.....
I'm looking for a pitch and store site for this season, therefore it won't be stored on the site the insurance company approved site for around 4 months of this year. It will have an alko hitch and wheel lock, as per the other discounts I was given.
What happens if I need to make a claim whilst it's not on a CASSOA site, even though I've stated that's where it will be stored.
I didn't make a false declaration when I applied for the insurance, as I wouldn't make a false claim if I needed to if the caravan was stored elsewhere between site visits.
Help me please, PC. You're my only hope.....
Jon

Your policy requires you to notify the insurer of any changes to relevant circumstances and changing from a CASSOA site to somewhere else is one. You should notify your insurer when you are intending moving the caravan and they will let you know if there will be an increase in the premium for the period that it is away. If you do not inform them and the caravan is stolen or broken into whilst it is away your policy will probably not pay out. The extra charge should not be large so don't risk it.

I also agree that you need to notify your insurer beforehand. In case something goes wrong and your insurer wasnt made aware of this change, you may not be eligible to get a claim. Talk to your insurance provider as soon as possibble.

you must tell your insurance of any changes you make it is part of your contract with them. they only need the smallest of of non compliances to refuse a claim.
secondly if you go on a pitch and store site, it is unlikely you will be able to use the hitch lock and wheel clamp. as it is the site that stores and pitches your van not you. in order for them to move the van [so it is ready when you arrive]
even if they agreed to fit the devices [unlikely] when stored. you would have to give them the keys. this is another non compliance issue.

Before you go for this option check out the exact security on site and then ring your insurer and see if they will accept it. Under no circumstances assume the insurer will accept it as at best they will probably want anadditional premium so if not told the policy will not apply.
