It seems that a new group of Climate Control fanatics has emerged calling themselves "Tyre Extinguishers". Their purpose is to go around letting down the tyres of SUVs. Obviously this dim witted crowd have given no thought that they may be endangering human lives i.e. the vehicle needs to be used in an emergency plus other issues they may cause by letting down the tyres on an SUV.
Anyway I am fairly sure that it is a criminal offence to interfere with a motor vehicle plus it is also a hate crime. I would not be pleased if they interfere with my vehicle!

Whilst it is an offence to cause damage to a vehicle I can hardly see it as a hate crime. Vehicles are inanimate objects and don’t have feelings.

They don’t come under the list of hate crime categories.

If you are disabled and the vehicle is your only means of transport to the hospital etc then maybe, but generally you are correct? Not so long ago we had to transport a neighbour to the local hospital due to an emergency and we used my SUV as it was night and heavy rain.

There are many 4 x 4 Rescue clubs scattered around the UK who help people in need whatever that need is. All the emergency services use SUVs so are they going to target these services?

There will always be a need for SUV type vehicles including pick ups as they provide a capability that ordinary vehicles do not. When I had my Pajero which was modified for off roading I was a member of Wessex 4x4 Response and gave support during the bad Somerset floods.Had to be DBS cleared to undertake the tasks though.

The annoying thing is that if they catch the culprit letting down the tyres, they are probably let off by the police with a warning. It then becomes a badge of honour amongst the morons!

It's a disgrace. They have no idea how green they are. Why not target really thirsty vehicles. Our Navara may well be classed in this bit we see over 40mpg on a good run and 35every day. Better than our Mini ClubmanJCW. Idiots imo and they need arresting for criminal damage urgently.

A main moron with surname "Vine" highlighted these idiots on his show giving them the publicity they craved and they now brag about it on their website. I have the link, but I am not posting it. :rage:

The Extinction Group have recruited volunteers to block oil refineries ion the near future. Hope that the police can get advance intel and put response teams in place before they glue themselves to wherever.

Think it is either under "vandalism" or "Malicious damage to property" legislation both fo which are criminal acts. If found guilty they will have a criminal record for life and they will be prevented from getting some jobs. The big issue is catching them and if you happen to catch one of them, what can you do without getting arrested yourself?

Another bunch of idiots posing as environmentalists. They do unscrew the dust caps and put rice or other grains in casing further problems and can lead to serious bills. It is clearly vandalism and a criminal activity but I doubt they care.

Although I didn't hear the Vine variety show I certainly agree with the word you describe him by!
He is, after all, the Daily Mail of Broadcasting.
Few people have greater love for themselves and frequently create mischief which benefits no one.
Not, you may gather, my favourite broadcaster.
Others will disagree and read the Daily Mail no doubt. ;)

I wonder if you could fill the tyres with CO2 and then have a sticker to that effect on your car? Mind you probably find the morons cannot read anyway.
I am aware that tyres can be filled with nitrogen, but not sure of CO2?

Not only idiots but IGNORANT idiots, having in more than one case let down the tyres of Mercedes EQA cars - which are fully electric ! Perhaps they are motivated more by envy ?

Which only proves that they are only motivated by jealousy! :D

I can't follow any logic underpinning the "proof" so positively claimed as the "only motivation" in that conclusion?

I suspect that their genuinely held concerns are environmental, though not necessarily thought through.
Here more, it is just an easy target for expressing their view, and provoking a reaction.

I believe there is unlikely to be a hint of jealousy, let alone it being the "only motivation", in owing something that they don't need, want and see as unduly polluting; why would there be?

An SUV pollutes more if it is older technology, and only reflects the amount of use it sees; parked up it pollutes less than the protester does.
In some cases they are probably right in the belief that the ownership and use of a SUV, and with it the "extra" pollution is unnecessary in being predominantly a vanity choice, better handled by something less polluting.

"Chelsea Tractor" springs to mind.
