Hi everyone,we have a Bailey Indiana 2006 and have a problem with the water pump intermittently coming on when all taps are shut...have checked all taps including drain taps for hot water tank and onboard tank and there are no leaks.

Any suggestions

My 2003 Bailey Pageant Champagne does exactly the same thing. No idea why though! It's been doing it since new and doesn't seem to suffer from any leaks.

Water system is probably using pressure switch system instead of micro switches on each tap to operate the pump.

Even though not in use, over time (about 3am when your sound a sleep!) the water pressure will drop, which means the pump will operate and re pressurise the system ready for when you wanna turn the tap on.

I`d check in your manual if you have one just to confirm.

Alan,

Thanks for your advice. Just checked the manual and it is a pressure switch system as you suggest.

I suspect your Indiana is the same Maureen.

Thanks,

Mark.

Hello Alan,

It is my experiance that the pressure switched systems only pulse as you describe if there is a leak, it only needs to be a drip from a tap, or some other joint in the system, but that will eventually drop the pressue enough to cause the pump to turn on.

I suggest you check the system for leaks. Sometimes teh culprit is teh presure switch its self, which has a non-return valve built in. If eh NRV does not seat properly some water pressure will be 'leaked' straight back into the water tank so no external leak will be obvious.

As a fix it untill you can check the system fully you can turn off the master pump switch at night.

Apart from leaks pressure systems will 'hunt' from time to time for other reasons.

The Whale type will hunt if the battery voltage drops, this requires a slight adjustment of the control knob on the top to compensate. It could also be a faulty microswitch or the one way valve in the unit allowing it to 'leak' back into the aquaroll

The Surflo internal pump uses a cone shaped spring to stop this problem, I have found if the spring is weak then stretching it slightly will effect a cure.

Thanks for the information...did not think to look at the system leaking back to the tank..
