Hi John,

I had a Elddiss cyclone which I bought and was just the same. I fixed it up and had 4 years touring in it. The first thing is to find out why the van is damp in the bathroom. My leakage was through the roof vent which was easy to remove and re-seal. I would suggest that you took it to a local dealer (did you buy through dealer if so take it to him as he should have told you of damp at time). If you are going to undertake repairs yourself, get the haynes manual it wil give you full instructions as it may be coming through the awning or window rails. Re-sealing is a bit of a messy job but on a warm dry day or two is simple enough. You will need a dehumidifier to run inside the van once you have stopped the leak and remove all the rotten timber / boarding, replacing up to the good timber. The panels can be purchased through your local caravan dealers if you tell them / show them the finish. I took a piece of removed stuff to show them and as luck would have it they had some off cuts which they gave to me. Don't be put off by tales of doom and gloom of water ingress. If resolved in good time yo can have years of vanning.

Good luck

Carl

Hi John, As Carl has said don't be put off by the damp problem,I have just finished doing the whole caravan roof and side panels in the washroom in a Swift Challenger 520/4 because of water ingress thro the roof in a number of areas mainly the vent from the heater. It's not a job to be undertaken lightly but just make sure you take your time and do it carefully. If you can't find a local supplier for your wallboard/ceiling board try www.olearymotorhomes.co.uk they supply sheets of the stuff and are a bit cheaper than most. Best of luck Cabby
