Is £189 to much to fit a new kitchen tap

I replaced the kitchen tap on the caravan myself a couple of weeks ago for the same reason. A decent tap is going to cost about £50 to £80 depending on the model and it took me about an hour and a half to do the job. All the kitchen drawers had to be removed and I was working lying on my back in the far corner to gain access underneath, involving quite a lot of effort. I therefore reckon that depending on accessibility from underneath, the quote that you received was not unreasonable.

Replaced mine with a Screwfix job under£30. Like Robert I did it through the fridge vents. Next time will need sink removing as not enough slack left in water pipes

We had our kitchen tap replaced on our caravan by our caravan engineer and it was cheaper so i would get more quotes and it your choice who you go with .

The replacement of the kitchen tap on our caravan would be difficult as the fridge is directly under it and may need moving to get the access needed. The quote may be reasonable if yours is like ours, but looks high to me if the job is straightforward.
If you can tell us what the caravan is, someone can probably give you a better idea.

If the water system uses micro switches then you are limited to those. Otherwise, in most cases, a domestic tap will fit, normally better quality, more choice and can be much cheaper. but may be a little heavier.

Perhaps fitting wheel nut indicators like they have on trucks might be a good idea if your concerned about nuts coming loose.

I tried that but on the van I had they would not fit due to depth and size of the bolt recess I think the fittings were a bit cheap and nasty though. I then read, that n a van, if they start to move, it can be too late before it’s spotted.

I think the idea is excellent. Perhaps there are some good ones out there.
