Is a sun canopy an awning?

Fellow vanners,

Having just invested in an Isabella Shadow sun canopy, I'm interested in finding out your experiences, in particular whether you are charged for erecting them at the awning rate that some sites charge.

I'm not against paying to use an extension which will use more space, and I'm well aware that sites all are individual; some charge extra for awnings, some don't, but what are your experiences in the main with sun canopies?

Are they awnings or not? and have you paid extra for using one?

Cheers,
MM

I use a Fiamma caravan store & never had to pay for it.
If anyone told me that I would have to pay for it, I only have to clip the poles to the side of the caravan & then nothing is touching the ground

an awning is described as a projection or cover attached the side of a building or structure, so a sun canopy is an awning. In reality i dont think really applies to caravan awnings which are in effect an enclosed structure attached to the caravan creating an extra living space.
