is this safe

hi all i have a fiat stilo it says the kerb weight is 1195kg then it says pay load of 510kg do you add to together for a higher kerb weight i want to tow a 1000kg van also when towing will be 2 adults 2 kids and all the bits for a weekend away is this wise

If your kerbweight is 1195Kg, then the maximum recommended towing weight is 85% of that, which is 1015Kg, although legally you can tow up to 1195Kg.

The other figure you need to look at is the Gross Train Weight of the car. This is the total allowed weight of car + what you're towing + contents of both, and is set by the car manufacturer. It is illegal to exceed this.
