Is Turn Up Touring Over

Just been looking at some CC sites that are fully booked for Easter and Peak Summer. Is this the end of touring ?? it doesn't not appear that you can just turn up and stay anymore. Everything has to be pre planned.

I think with the clubs prices being increased, CLs may have the very good year they require to ensure they stay on the network.

The days of touring may be over for some, but I guess that they are the ones who haven't got plenty of time to spare for holidays and often have a young family to cater to. I personally don't need to worry about Bank Holidays and Peak Summer times.

Last year we had pre booked stays in September at three Scottish sites...Kinlochewe, Morvich and Bunree. During our stay we extended the stop at both the first two, then as the weather detioriated to storm conditions, we cancelled Bunree and booked into Culloden instead.I think it is a shame if that flexibility is taken away but I also appreciate that if someone else had wanted the site during my booking dates, there was a possibility that the site was full until the last moment.

As it happens, Bunree was being cancelled by lots of vanners.

We seem to get the sites we want most of the time but we look to all sites not just CC ones in the UK.

I might though try using "Earl" as my first name following Lord B's comment ;)

Touring is not over.

What this shows is that the CC have a booking system that does not deter people from making all the bookings they like. I know of at least 2 families who book 3 sites for their main holiday and just go to the one they want.

Its about time the CC fixed this!

A while back I mentioned that point and was told that you can't book more than one site Steve for the same time.

I now understand use of more than one membership card makes it possible. Whatever, it seems as though the CC needs to tighten there act up and take deposits.

That is impossible, try it yourself!

You can not book two or more sites at the same time!

I tried and the system blocks it.

Not when they use each others membership numbers along with the fathers as well.

Its common practice with several CC members I have spoken to

By more than 1 membership card, do you mean different surnames, or 'his and her's'? If different surnames then you are paying the extra fees, is it worth it?
