Merry Christmas to all our caravan manufactures.

This is the time of year when we all should be looking forward to next season, wishing that Santa will bring that little something that will be of use for our hobby.

If like me in reality its more a case of will the caravan get through this winter without causing damage, cost, and inconvenience, and I'll add stress because its Christmas.

I read all the blogs how individuals experience all sorts of problems relating to the internal conditions found inside their their caravans when carry out winter inpections.

Never leave your caravan over the winter period without inspection, you are very likly to experience condensation, damp, mildew, warping, all the problems you could well do without.

I invite manufacterers to prove to us that the product we are being sold is fit for purpose and that winter storage has been taken into account when designed.

Lets keep record in the new year of just how many people experience problems over the winter period especially with new vans of one to two year old.

One point to think about, for those who have eperienced issues mentioned above, would you buy from the same manufacturer again.

We leave our caravan completely alone and undisturbed between the end of November (ish) and the beginning of March (ish) - and we've never had a problem with mould, condensation, dampness, or anything like that. We leave the cushions in place (there are wall spacers behind and slatted bottoms underneath) and just bring home any perishable food items. Our toiletries, books, games, racquets and so on are all left in the various lockers and cupboards.

It's usually just very cold when we first go in, and the first time we use it it takes a long time to 'warm up' but I usually just pop a couple of hot water bottles under the bedding and there are no problems.

Our caravan is a ten year old Swift - and Yes I would buy again.
