Before my OH and I kill each other - can anyone help us to decipher the info on our awning label please!

We bought it with a previous caravan (which we have since swapped) and the original owner was somewhat vague about dimensions etc.

The bag label carries the following info:

A-SIZE 119008502

FRAME 14-16

C-NR 3111-3

MODEL CROWN GOLD

Without totally undoing the awning in the loft (!) we have spotted that the awning bears a logo which says "Ambassador Crown"

A quick search on the web has failed to give us any decipherable info - but would we be right to assume this is an 850 size???

I suppose our big question is will it fit onto a twin-axle Swift Conqueror 630SAL???? (Previous van it came with was a Lunar Delta) and what will it look like? - does it have 2 straight ends - or one curved to follow the awning rail - help please - awning novices need you!!!

Hi Lee

Your Swift needs a 1064 minimum. If the Ambassador is 850 it won't fit.

I'd ring Isabella and ask them about the Ambassador but it does sound like an 850.

There are plenty of firms who enlarge awnings but I suspect a jump from 850 to say 1070 may be too great. Maybe you should hunt around for a second hand one or buy new?

Cheers

The only light I can throw on this is regarding the frame size.

Isabella have standard size fronts covering a range of "A dimensions. In your case I read your label as a frame for size G14 and G16 awnings.

Referring to their 2005 catalogue, G14 covers 850 to 875 cm "A", and G16 900 to 925. So for starters it looks as if it falls between 850 and 925cm "A" dimension.

The awning might be as made or might be as later modified. If as made then emailing that label detail to the very helpful lady at info@isabella.co.uk ought to help.

Otherwise whether original or Isabella modified the current "A" dimension will be stencilled on the inside of the roof on both sides about 8" from the sides and the awning bead.

All Isabella's full awnings can be converted to part awnings with either one or both "drops" being out of the awning rail. You would need to work out carefully your best option with regards to missing windows for example. This route is not that cheap, when I enquired the bits where

Hi Lee

We had our Isabella Commodore altered from 1025 to 1050 by Isabella and were told that they would not recommend altering by more than 2 sizes so like JTQ you could use it as a part awning I also feel that an altered awning never seems to fit as well as the correct original size it always seemed to fit better before. I just wish I could justify buying anew one instead. Be careful though of buying a cheap new awning as they just do not last. A good second hand Isabella with little use could be a good option. I have seen in the mags recently some good second hand bargains of the Commodore that would fit your van and it is also 3m deep which makes it like a dance floor.

Best of luck.
