Have been told about conversion kit to use Isabella full awning as a combination by cutting or squeezing the awning cord to bring it out of the awning channel .The a shapped section is fitted to the awning cord and a windproofing pad and pole added. The dealer had not seen or sold one before but its listed on the isabella site and brochure.Has anybody used one and is it successful. As it will cost £1129 i'd like to get it right first time.

I havent seen or used the Isabella one but I have got an NR combi awning great piece of kit.

Cut the cord in the correct place and only thread the top and 1 side through the awning chanel the other bit comes down the side of the van like a porch.

We got one as we were fed up of keep changing the awning for each caravan, now we have kept the same awning for the last 2 vans. (and saved a fortune on the replacement awning)

With NR you can choose which size awning to have from their range and then buy the conversion kit to go with it, all with instructions on where to cut the cord and how to erect it

I had my Isabella Ambassador 850 changed from a full to a large

porch awning.one side still goes into the awning rail and the

other side comes out of the rail and straight down the side of

the caravan.the Isabella kit includes the verticle pole(metal or

ixl)and pad to protect/stop the elements. The kit cost under

You've got me interested now! One reason for preferring a porch awning has been the little sheltered sitting-out area it provides near the front of the van. Now I realise that we could have a shortish "full" awning modified to give the same sitting-out area. Best of both worlds maybe...

FrankE,

Thats exactly right we have Indiana, the dealer assures us that we put a plastic section on the awning and then the sealing pad and as you say a metal or IXL leg,and again once you have cut or crimped the awning cord you caant redo it.Thats why I am so concerned to get it right. Also as Bryan says it is shelterd and also more secure aginst wind with one end in the awning rail. Thanks everyone for the contributions, very helpful.

Are you sure that once the bead is "nicked" the awning cant be still used as a full awning?

[obviously for the right size van]

I would have thought that a small discontinuity in the bead was tolerable?

The awning can of course be returned to its original state by having the bead replaced; that I have had done.
