The awning is excellent ,very good quality and the carbon x poles are lighter and much stronger than steel,if its been well looked after and you get it for a good price then you will have years of enjoyment from it.

Personally i think the blinds are a bit gimicky but they dont have to be used and others might think they are great, overall an excellent awning.

Hi Karen,

We had an Isabella Magnum, but decided to move instead to a full sized awning so we replaced it with an Opus that we bought in early 2007 at the NEC show. It had the carbon x poles and blinds.

The quality was up to Isabella's usual high standard. It had the new Isafix fittings on the poles which are really good and easy for tightening the poles at the correct length.

The blinds were a deep pain. Took ages to fit and we only ever twice bothered to put up the complete set. In fact a year later we took a

That's very interesting what you say about the blinds.

We decided against the Opus last year purely because we didn't like the weight.

We are now on our second Izzy Capri Lux Fibre x poles etc and it does a very good job.

I think the Opus is more designed for long stayers eg the wardens whose caravans never move from one year to another.

Cheers

Hi Thanks for views. Is it heavier than other awnings would you say? I will need size 1050. I also have porch awning but as we have a german shepherd dog who has to holiday with us I thought a big awning would be better.

We have a 1090 capri lux. I can lift the awning by myself but it is no lightweight. The carbon fibre x poles are heavy but manageable. This is a bl**dy big awning.

Hello Karen,

The full specifications of the awnings are available on the Isabella web site.

http://www.isabella.net/uk/
If you follow the "Extra" tab you can view their catalogues for all recent years - though each does take a little while to download so you have to be patient. Details such as weights of each awning are almost at the back of the catalogue each year. The Opus awning for a 1050 "A" frame caravan is listed this year as weighing 51.1 Kilos with the carbon X frame. (The larger Opus 300 is 54 Kilos).

I notice from ther catalogue that they seem to have dropped the blinds from this year's models!

Looking back to the 2008 catalogue I see the similar Opus was then listed at 53.3 Kilos (and the Opus 300 at 60.5 Kilos) - I guess part of the difference from last year to now was the weight of the blinds.

For comparison, DustyDog's Capri Lux is listed at 43.5 Kilos in the current catalogue. I agree with his comment that the Opus lends itself to seasonal pitching.

Incidentally, the Opus is not particularly big, at 2.5 metres out from the van, there are many awnings that extend to 3 metres and a few giants that will go beyond that.

Cheers

We bought an Isabella opus awning from the caravan show in 2008. Its absolutely fabulous, but the blinds were a total pain. It took ages to knock all the pegs in for them, impossible if on a hardstanding.... We asked Isabella if an alteration were possible to have curtains put back in, so thats what we did (much better now) Bit expensive I suppose considering the price in the first place but worth it the awning itself is brilliant. I think Isabella have dropped the blind option now. Says something I think!!!
