Issues last weekend

Last weekend I went to get my caravan off the drive only to find my rear motor movers were not engaging or rolling. After a very trying time turning the van with just the two established that the fault is very likely to be the ECB electronic control box, the system is a power touch evolution. I have ordered a new box but never fitted one from the siting of the existing it will be challenging.

I also suffered an ingress of water on the route through the bedroom through the heki roof light, the journey was constant heavy rain all the way so I am guessing some sort of resealing is going to be required, another job I have never done before.
Is this a tape and also silicon job?

If the leak is around the frame of the Heiki then it's best to remove the entire unit and reseal it with Sikaflex or similar. (Be sure the damp hasnt spread into the roof timbers, you dont want to seal it in)
You want a non setting sealant, DONT use tape, it won't last, and silicone sets so is the wrong stuff.

It could be that the surround on the Heki has cracked. It is normally a straight line and looks almost natural and invisible. .

I am not sure as yet how the water is getting in, I am guessing the existing sealant has just broken down, I presume with the unit out I would be able see the timbers? Sikaflex 522 appears to be prefered option of most people ?

Did you mean that the silicone tape sets?

How bad was the water ingress? In certain conditions of wind and heavy rain , water may get through between the roof and the frame ridge directly beneath the plastic dome. The dome does not give a water tight seal

No,I meant that tape of pretty mch any vatiety is not a lasting repair and that silicone (bathroom type sealant) sets and, if subjected to movement, can come away from a surface and allow a leak. Remember that a caravan roof is subject to the full force of the sun, so moves a fair bit due to thermal expansion/contraction. Thats why you need a semi-flexibke mastic type sealant
