I've got a red knob

Now that I have yout attention (sorry for the pun!)

I was checking the underside (offside) of my Swift Conqueror 640 Salon on the weekend when I found a small red plunger!

Does anyone know what it is used for?. It has 12mm written on it and can only be moved in and out! Is it some sort of drain??

Cheers for your help

Stephen D,

I am sure it is a drain. I have a 2007 Swift Conqueror 655 and under the offside front of the caravan are two pipes, one red and one blue. On the inside of the caravan these pipes lead to two manually operated switches and are for completely draining down the water system.

The only way to find out is either to ring Swift, or ask your dealer, or fill your system with water and give your red knob a good pull!! I am sure water will come out. The only concern i have is if it is a drain then why are there not 2, one for the cold and one for the hot.

Hi Stephen Is this red knob on the end of a pipe ? if so i have the same on my Crown van its a drain. i do not think you can just give it a good pull there is a small ring round the top of it, this needs to be pushed up and then pull the red plastic bung at the same this will release the grip on the pipe

Hope this is how your Red bung is

Hi Stephen,

The red stopper you have shouls be the same as mine. I have a 2004 Swift Challenger 500se. The red plug on mine is the cold water drain off, the hot water drain off is a tap fitted under the fixed bed near the hot water tank.

what I did with mine was to put an elbow on the end of the pipe coming through the floor then a piece of water pipe towards the side of the caravan then put a tap on the end of that, saves getting under the caravan to drain the water. Works for me.

Hope this helps

Hi Graham yes should have done that a long time ago saves getting on your back and getting wet when the water comes out.

Cheers lads

I drained the heater water out via the drain plug located on the bottom lefthand side of the heater (and got soaked...what pressure)..It was only when I was looking for possible drains under the van that I came across this plunger. I tried it several times but no water came out, hence the question.

Many Thanks
