Anyone ever made their own jacking brackets that bolt on to the pre-drilled holes on the chassis rather than buy Alko or Purple line brackets,

I haven't, but would you propose to do your own welding? It would need to be to a high standard, and unless you have a pillar drill you are going to have some tedious drilling to do. Mind you, I have hand drilled 1/2" holes in 1/4" steel in the past :S

If you look at the Bailey caravan jack and bracket, the bracket is just a piece of flat bar bolted to the chassis with a welded box on the bottom to sit on the top of the jack, the Alko bracket is a right angle that is also bolted to the chassis, but the Alko jack head sits inside the bottom of the Alko bracket, actually not much welding in the way I will do it, a piece of flat bar, drilling the holes not a problem, my bracket will sit inside my jack heads, infact the opposite way round that Bailey do it,

Hi Camel.
The OEM Al-ko brackets are dangerous imo.. Poorly designed and engineered . Note the failed one next to the other and the new Purple Line ones. Just ensure you make yours more substantial than the OEM B)

No the Alko ones are galvanised steel. They produce two sizes the 800kg and 1000kg. The latter look much like the red ones in the above picture.

And the brackets retail in the £40.00 price range, I'm going to fabricate my own for a £10.00,

There's a pair of Alko 800kg brackets on there at the minute and some mug wants to pay £20.00 + postage,
