Hi I know this seem a unusual request and Im not sure if the people I need to talk to even read this site, but is there any caravan dealers out there looking to employ a 54 year young mail to train and stay with them till he is 67. I have been intrested in caravans for a long time now and I have phoned a number of dealers in Kent susex essex and hertfordshire I have had interveiws wih 2 but no luck yet.
I am a trained motor mechanic but wish to leave the trade now, many thanks.Neil Harris.

Hi, I've replied to you under another thread and so has Damian. I'm sorry to say that chances of getting the sort of post you seek are pretty low at the present time as I doubt many dealers etc. can plan that far ahead.
My suggestion is that you explore the advice given and look into training to become a freelance mobile caravan service technician - with your experience in the motor trade providing a great background just needing the 'top up' in items specific to caravans e.g. LPG gas fitting. Relative to cars, caravans are more bodywork and fittings than running gear.

What would worry me about joining a larger establishment in the preset climate is that if it failed in say two or three years you would again be out of a job and that many years older- no disrespect, but the older you are the more difficult the job hunt. Rather than a big dealer, why not contact the local mobile technicians and see if any of them need a working partner ?

Keep us all up to date, as I'm confident many other forum members will be willing to offer advice and support
