Jockey wheel skids? How do you stop the jockey wheel ploughin...

Hi

I have a Rhyno mover driving the wheels which helps moving the van around. My drive is shingle and when wet it is soft enough for the jockey wheel to dig in. Obviously worse still on grass! I could load the back of the van to reduce the nose weight, but I recall someone marketing a skid to go under the jockey wheel to spread the load and glide over the surface.

Does anyone have a list of such accessories with names and prices or weblinks so I can see it? Or have one for sale?

Thanks

Never heard of the skid before, I have a pneumatic jockey wheel on my van size 300 by 4 and dos`nt give me any problems at all. Any one changing to a pneumatic one would have to buy the complete assembly as the wheel holder is very much wider.

Rhyno used to sell a skid they called Tiger Foot - it's still listed on their old website, but doesn't seem to appear on the new one. You could ask them?

when i use my mover on soft ground i have the jockey wheel extended so the front of the van is in the air it just takes a bit of weight of the wheel and isnt digging in quite so much it works for me

I use a pneumatic tyre, but prior to this I also had the same problem before changing the van which is the jockey wheel digging in. I carried 2 x 2mtr clear hall runners which weighed very little and took up little space, simply place the runner in front of the jockey wheel if the ground is muddy or shaley and the stops the tyre digging in and by having 2 pieces you can move it once the wheel has travelled onto the next piece.

providing the jockey wheel can rotate, there is absolutely no need for a pneumatic jockey wheel, i had one on my last van, fitted as an extra, i found no advantage what so ever, but i did find negatives.

1/ larger diameter= less ground clearance.

2/ constant risk of puncture, extra cost and inconvenience.

I refitted the original solid wheel.
