Feel good now, booked new year away in the van. Were off to Dornafield near newton abbott. We staid there last year at xmas and had a great break, so going back this year(wished it was for xmas and new year but we have guests for xmas) never mind.

Always good to have something to look forward to

Graham I worked in the retail trade for 20 years and only had 2/3 days off for the xmas break. Total change of work, now a lorry driver and been able to book a few days off to link onto the bank hoildays and hey presto 12 days off again this year (second year of having this long break) and we love it.

I do however feel sorry for all who work over xmas and new year, my Brother is a police man and he works at some point every xmas and new year.

I would love to go away for new year in the van but the wife works in retail and usually worksthis year though i might just leave her at home and go away with the kids (hehehe wont tell her till later though).

We live in the north east so if anyone has some names of some lively-ish sites around north yorkshire for new years eve can you give them up.

Thanks,

Andy

Why don't you go to a nice place locally, somewhere with nice scenery and easy for your wife to get to work. The change of scenery is worth a lot.

Chris good size field for the dogs to run aroud fenced off as well, so good for the dogs.

As for the site its seems very well kept, the owners were very nice and last xmas we got there xmas eve and they had drinks and mince pies in there house for the whole rabble of caravanners.

The loo block has won loo of the year for a couple of years and they are very plush, including underfloor heating.

Nice area to explore with Newton Abbot and Totnes close by

I was'nt knocking at having to work over the holidays.

I have been in the fire service for 35 years & could have retired 5 years ago, but I still love my job & started another 12 month contract. Some years I get the holiday off sometimes I have to work, I'm used to it now. Its just me being flippant as usual, any way its double time for the bank holidays )

I work in retail too and have managed to get a 6 day break over New Year by offering to work overtime before Xmas and between Xmas and New Year. If we are successul in getting a winter season pitch at Invercauld that's where we'll be.

Hi CL,

Some very nice people at Invercauld on winter seasonal pitches, have you looked at Ballater, Aberdeenshires site as an alternative, should you not get Invercauld

Hi Frank

No, we've not looked at Ballater as an alternative. We ski when there's snow(!) so Ballater would just be a bit too far away for the rest of the season.

The only time we nearly failed to get a pitch was when my elderly mother-in-law broke her hip just as booking began and our stuff took a back seat. However we got a cancellation so all was well.
