Congratulations and condolences too! In 2005 we ordered a brand new caravan and a Disco to tow it. Within days of the order being placed we too received similar good news. By 2014 it was all just sitting in storage and going nowhere so we sold everything. Last Autumn we decided that things were improving and bought another caravan and all the kit too. But it was an emotional purchase rather than an an objective one, so we have now just bought a more conventional caravan with 5 berth!! We can see the light at the end of the tunnel as our last grandchild is a tweenie, but still very keen to go with us. Funny though that I have managed to agree dates and booking etc for the school holidays, at enormous cost, but cannot get my daughter's boss to approve her leave such that we can go solo on our planned breaks. We have been caravanning with grand kids now for 23 +years, yet with our own kids we never took them during main school holidays or half terms as everywhere was too crowded and expensive, even then.

Seriously though you will love it and how nice to have someone doing the domestics chores (except loo) while you can sit and drink nice beer.

Just thinking about it, we first took our two boys away in a trailer tent to Chesil beach, eldest one was walking, the youngest was just crawling, 34 years ago now.

Excellent news Thingy. Our kids and grand kids were born in the winter. Didn't affect our caravanning but the home heating bill doubled!! Worth every penny. :cheer:

I nevwe had the pleasure as a child. My parents waited until I took the shilling before buying a caravan and then promptly stopped years later when I showed an interest. What does that tell you? :( :(

They did take both my girls however and they loved it, strange now they swear they will never set foot in a caravan. I guess their tastes will change, like mine as they get older.

Full cycle and when I am too old, they will probably start to show an interest.

I was a late starter at 6 months old, haven't stopped since. Don't remember having more than a weekend away that hasn't been in a caravan in my life.

Whatever the future holds as far as grandchildren goes if they aren't boys they aren't coming with us. It may be (hopefully) quite a long way off but I've had my fill of girls.

Have you got their names down for 'P' Coy yet?

Just getting him up to speed on the BFT, training for P Coy begins on his 4th birthday. He can already jump up and down shouting "blisters dont hurt". His little hands are a bit sore as we are training him up for the log.

Utrinque Paratus.
