I felt I must post this about The Kampa Air Awning.I think mine being the 390 was one of the first ones on the market its two years old in April. I was very disappointed with mine as not only did water leak in but I kept losing the air as well.During our summer holiday I spent several hours chasing leaks in it. The tubes that join from one pole to another were just literally leaking one after the other. As we were only just into our mid summer break I decided to use the glue that was supplied in the repair kit this did get us through our break just. When we got home I was chomping at the bit after all it cost me loadsa money. Now this is where things get really good. After making contact with KAMPA and explaining my problem I was promised a new set of tubes for the following morning and true to their word the tubes... full set arrived the following morning.I have just been away for a short break and changing tubes and not had to top up the air once.Very pleased now with my Kampa Air 390. Well Done Jack at Kampa.

That's ggod news Sir Roger

Sir Sproket has the latest version which I was fortunate to see in full erectile mode a few weeks ago.
I t looks pretty substantial and well made. I was impressed.
Maybe Kampa had a few problems with the earlier version and then made some modifications and brought out the latest. one.
A penny to a pound you have been given the latest design air tubes.

Hi, I have a KAMPA air awning. When we first bought it, to be used for our main holiday rather than using the full one, I decided to erect it prior to departure, this enabled us to check everything out and not look like prats on the camp site. Everything worked as it should except when we tried to put the two poles into position against the van to stop the wind from getting in. I had secured the awning to the ground with the pins but had not aligned it properly at the van side leaving a gap which was rather breezy. Thereafter as soon as we inflated the awning we align the poles with the van and started to secure the bottom pins working rear to front. This solved all our problems. It is so quick and easy to erect.

how good are these in winds?? do they flap around like some porch awnings do..

Hello Jay. I've got one of the first design models of this awning 260 size.

My first one had slight damage to the door fly screen and Kampa (via the supplying dealer) exchanged it for me. Having first apologised for the fact that the exchange would take a few weeks they insisted I continued using the one with the damage in the mean time.
My replacement one has been brilliant. Easy to erect on my own without fear of dropping an awning pole against the van side.
A minor issue of my own making was that on one occasion I didn't *** up the cover that screws over the air inflation valve and the poles had lost some - not all air the following morning. No issue since I'm now aware of it.
Another irritation is that the pitch needs to be reasonably flat. Due to there being no real adjustment to the poles so if pitched with a slope extending upwards from the van the gap between the wall of the van and the awning can become more than you would probably want. A traditional awning you would just lower the front poles a touch. All that said I am more than pleased with my purchase.
Regarding your question of high winds:- whilst I haven't used it in storm conditions I have used it in very wet and blustery conditions and must say I didn't feel any concern that the awning couldn't stand up to the conditions.
I've looked at the latest update and think the removal of the skirt in the doorways is a good idea also KAMPA have now made provisions for a roof lining which can be bought as an extra.
Finally if you get one in the future always make it your first job when packing to put the inflation pump into your tow vehicle. I'm embarrassed to say I forgot mine once and only discovered my omission after threading the awning to the van and laying out a series of pegs.
I feel I must add that the way Kampa and my suppling dealer dealt with my issue was exceptional
This is the kind of customer service we should be entitled too, but all too often hear about companies who don't measure up.
Good luck and best wishes I hope my comment are helpfull.

We have looked at this type of awning but not decided on whether to buy one yet. Nice to know you were treated well when things went wrong, a pity the caravan manufacturers do not always do the same.
