Kampa Awning tip

Hi everyone, I use a Kampa Rally awning almost every time I use the caravan, I always get annoyed when I do because I have the poles that hold the awning up against the caravan, the ones that hold the sponge bumper against the van to keep out the draughts, the problem I get which is on a grass pitch as well as hard standing is getting the pole to stay in place, the bottom of the pole has a small spike about 20mm long that is supposed to hold it in place at the bottom, does a lousy job on grass and might as well not be there on hard standing, to get round it I've just cut a 6 inch square of steel plate, nothing too thick, but rigid, I've put a hole in the middle to slide it over the pole and 2 holes at opposite corners to take tent pegs, I have only just done this so it's un tried yet but I will simply slide it over the last section of the pole and down to the foot already fitted and then peg it down up against the side of caravan, I can't see how this can fail to stop it moving in future, just thought I'd pass this tip on as I will be surprised if others don't have the same problem, fingers crossed for a less draughty awning.

hi BP, good idea, but there is a simpler method :woohoo: this has happend on our porch awning but solved it by fitting a short bungee cord to the pole at the btm added a couple of turns then drawing the ends together peg them under the van before fitting the skirt "it's never failed "

BP there's an even simpler method, never had a problem with our Kampa, just peg the two corners under the van pulling the pads against the van then fit the upright poles with a slight bend in the poles, then peg out rest of awning,
