Hi all

I have had a problem with my Bailey Ranger 460/4 2007. After just coming back from three weeks touring the west country and on the 1st October we are of on our travels again. The wall socket in the kitchen kept blowing the breaker the switch on the socket was found to be the problem. Got in contact with M. Jordon who we purchased said caravan from. Very helpfull but did not have one instock. Offered to taken one off there show vans but this weekend there having a biggest ever preview weekend 27th and 28th to order would take 6 weeks. So you connot blame them for that. So I phoned Kelly Watts and explained the problem."We will get one in the post for you sir". My neighbour who is a part P eleck is going to fit it for me. Kelly Watts went to a great deal of trouble and time getting me this part which I have not gone into here.

I think Bailey of Bristol are very lucky to have a member of staff like this. But I bet she not appreciated by them ?

Steve Young THANK YOU KELLY

Seems to me Steve you are well pi$$ed off as this is now the 4th post.

One of teh biggest problems in my view for caravan manufacturers is their suppliers.

If I was Bailey's purchaser I would insist any supplier guarantees immediate dispatch to customers like you.

So here we go again , QA/QC. It just doesn't exist and no one at Haymarket wants to rock the boat, Grrrrrr!

Cheers

1st October tomorrow still no part in post today. Does look as if we will not be going on holiday tomorrow. I have a disabled 26 year old daughter who was looking forward to the holiday. We go off season because of her special needs which I will not bore you with.. She has had four open surgery operation in last five years so she was looking forward to the holiday for a long time.

I do find it hard that it takes so long to put one wall socket in a jiffy bag address it and pop it in the post as Kelly said she would. Its not going on holiday that getting me down its explaining to my daughter who is talking about nothing else for the last days. I am just a coward and living in hope the part would come.

Best regards STEVE YOUNG

Well Paul

Yes we did go to B&Q and buy a switch socket of the shielf. Does not fit inside the Patress in the caravan. If we start cutting the caravan about to fit the B&Q socket the warranty goes out the window.Caravan just 1 year old.

PS Paul your last comment was offensive and horrible.

I wish you the very very best in your live.

Whre are you are planning to travel from and to where in the west country ?

If you are planning to travel down the M5 you will be passing 1 mile from a large Bailey dealer - www.discover.co.uk at Weston-Super-mare.

Then on the a38 about 10 miles past Exeter just before the Bovey Tracy turn off Bailey Dealer 'Outdoor experience' have new workshops and sales about 100 metres from the A38. (They supplied and service my Senator)

Maybe a call to one of these two dealers would id if they have the part and if they could do the 5 min fix, or maybe would be prepared to safely isolate the offending socket.

Best of luck

Forgot, if you in North Devon, Stowford farm meadows, http://www.stowford.co.uk/ is now a Bailey dealer and workshop as well as an excellent touring site with a mini zoo for your daughter.

Maybe they would agree to do the work as an emergency.

Hi Stephen

Thorpedo's ideas are very helpful and sensible. I hope they help you as I get the impression you are a little pi$$ed off to say the least.

I've had similar problems in the past. The snag is that most manufacturers work on a just in time basis and even the removal of one socket can upset the production run

We all know, as do Michael Jordan that Bailey do not make the socket but an outside contractor does it.

Surely MJ could bring pressure to bear on the socket manufacturer and get them to post you one direct. Even posted to a site and then maybe follow Thorpedos suggestion.

A great shame to spoil your whole holiday for one socket?

Good luck.

Cheers

Please be very aware that if you are on a shared bollard it need not be you that trips out the electric.

I do not know how much your daughter needs this equipment during the night but please do not think that just because you plug this in when you go to sleep that you will have power all night.

As I say I do not understand if this is life saving equipment but just incase I would rather you were aware of this point.

I know it must be frustrating not to get a part, but to cancel the holiday when it would be simple to get a multiway distribution socket block and plug it in to one of the working sockets sounds like bloody mindedness or a feeble excuse not to go.

Bailey are indead installing a new computer system as Kelly says so it is likely your part is delayed because of this .

Im sure its delay is not of Kelly's doing.

There are many ways you could get round this problem ,maybe you could swap the good socket for the faulty one?

Hi Stephen, I also have a 460/4 we have often fitted a 2 way socket into the power point where you house the tv, to use electrical equipment when the gas burners are on .

We just fit a beer mat under the TV stand to make it tilt forward. Our Ranger is being repaired brand new rear panel plus whatever it takes to cure the dampness, The original panel now had two splits one either side at the top of the panel.Just wished they had kept the original series 5 design, our last van Pageant imperial was 8 yrs old no dampness wished we had never sold it.

Try reading the reasons why above. We need the power points and stop thinking about abel people.

So will Bailey grind to a halt if the new computer system goes up in smoke?

Is it not beyond Kelly Watts or someone there to pop down to the stores with a Jiffy bag, pop the socket in it and write an address!

I'm pretty sure that something could fit in the hole as a stop gap, or the electician could fix a temporary surface mounted box to the inset box and provide the sockets that way until the correct part arrived! Seems like help and lateral thinking is getting beyond some British working people.

For Gods sake the man needed help and no one seems to be able to think or work outside the box!
