Kia Sorento - Twin Axle Caravans

Hi There,

I tow an Avondale Argente 650-6 (MPTLM 1700kg) with my sorento and from a stability point of view you don't know it is there, however my personal view is that it could do with a bit more power. The new face lifted sorento is out soon and that has 170bhp which should be more than enough power. On the whole it is a 9 out of 10.

Regards

Tony

I tow a Bessacar Cameo 550GL twin axle van with my Sorrento 2.5 deisel manual.I dont find any power issues with mine. I find it does all I ask of it and its a stressless tow. I dont find any stability problems at all. Come and have a look at the UK Sorrento Forum we are a friendly bunch and have a load of good info there for u to digest. This and the sorrento forum are my two main information gathering areas

TripHazard.....would you have a web address for this site please???

Hi

We have just bought a Sorento XT automatic and while I have only towed the caravan to and from the dealer for some warranty work (about 40 miles round trip) it was on different types of roads - motorway, trunk roads and a long steep climb I found the Sorento to be excellent.

The model we have has cruise control and on the motorway I set the cruise and it performed superbly.

We keep most things in the caravan so it wasn't "empty" and I think that the Sorento tows better than our Chrysler Grand Voyager.

I decided to test drive the Sorento after reading various posts on this forum and another Caravan forum and I am glad I did. I notice from the website that there is now

I have to agree with Trip and Richard. It's never going to compete against a BMW X5 in a sprint, but it is surprisingly swift. What the Sorento is great for, is torque and stability.

You can feel the torque building from 1500rpm and it just gets stronger up till 3000rpm, where it levels out. Fuel consumption is better than my works van (Merc Vito) which is on the better side of 30 mpg (just) but probably the biggest bonus is how stable and secure the car feels with a van attached to the rear. We have a Bailey twin axle, and apart from a little pitching as the combination goes over a badly repaired road (a common twin axle problem), you can sometimes forget that it's there.

I'm sure the new Sorento will be a fine car, but it will probably have a price to match. You won't feel short changed with the present one.

Hope this helps,

;o)

Got a Sorento XS manual...its a top tow car...good stability effortless pull power, we have a single axle buts its a fair weight.

Highly recommended
