The kerbweight of a diesl automatic will be somewhere in the region of 1950 to 2050kg. An exact figure will be specific for each car and depends on the specification (4WD alone adds about 60kg)

I mine is not auto but is brilliant for towing as are the autos. The new 2010 sorento has not got the towing capacity of the older one.

The auto is a little more thirsty than the manual as is the case with most cars, but is equally as good at towing.

You will not find a better tow car hence all the awards that it has achieved for towing over the years.

I've had my Sorie for 5 years and she's proven to be an excellent comfortable tug. Mine's a manual but plenty use the auto .

Have a look at

uksorento.com

Hundreds of Sorie auto tuggers post on there.

Cheers

Dougie we tow with the Sedona 2.9 TS auto which has a similar torque figue to the Sorento but is slightly heavier.

It tows like a train, so I would imagine with the added bonus of 4 wheel drive the Sorento is as stated really good.

Must admit towing and manouvering with the auto is a joy, very relaxing drive.

Hope this is of use.

Another Sorento owner here. I chose the automatic after having an automatic Passat before but much prefer the Sorento over the Passat.

Had an 04 XS auto since new, and its been totally reliable, servicing is not too expensive (cf my previous LR Disco2) and its an excellent towcar. It's good off road too if you fit AT tyres. My problem at the moment is that I would like to change but can't find anything that really meets our needs as well as the Sorrie, so wifey has had a new car instead. That parks my problem for another couple of years.

I agree with David Klyne, I to have towed all over Europe with my Sorento 56 plate auto. Unfortunately, I had to be recovered 3 times for turbo failure, I changed the car when it went in for the 4th one.

What did I buy, why a Sorento KM2, what else.

Hi,another Sorento driver here!

I have a 55 plate Sorento XS Auto. --Brilliant car.

Kerbweight - 2151kg.

Towed all over Europe -(well - France & Spain!!) - no problems. would recommend it to anyone.

Ride is a bit hard when solo - but you get used to that.

Fuel consumption towing :- 24MPG solo:- 33MPG.

Great tow vehicle.

An increase of 24 BHP together with a 20% decrease in fuel consumption? Makes you wonder why Kia didn't to it to all their Sorries at the factory.

Hi

I asked that question when the remap was being done, and the answer was "the engine production line doesnt know where in the world the car will end up it could be the arctic circle or dubai so there is a large tolerance in the ecu parameters to allow it to work ok anywhere in the world, but in the uk there wont be any huge temp etc differences"

Hope this helps

Steve
