Kia Sportage hates hills !!

Hello folks

First time we have towed with our Kia Sportage XS 2 Ltr Petrol, When we are going up hills the car seems to struggle, we are only towing a 875kg.

Any thoughts ? is this normal ?

Assuming the van brakes are not binding.

You need to look in the manuel to find the rpm at which max torque is achieved, use the gears to keep the revs above this slightly, and more so when approaching a hill, drop down a gear early rather than later, generally give it some stick.

If you really must have a small petrol engine, it is better fitted with a turbo, more torque.

HI! Angela get yourself a diesel Sportage i have an 08 plate 2 ltr tow 1480kg does hills no problem plenty of torque you will have to drop down the gears to get anywhere with a petrol .hope this helps
