I was looking for a suitable kWh meter to permanently wire into a circuit so I could monitor energy consumption to a workshop. There are literally hundreds of cheap KWh meters available from brands I've never heard of (usually strage Chinglish type names). having looked at a few which were claimed to be CE and or UKCA marked, I'm not convinced they are legitimate products that meet the requirements for connection in to UK systems.

Do be careful, and I'd suggest using only reputable manufacturers products rated for a minimum of 16A continuous.

Hi Prof
im only after a either a din rail fitted box or a press fit into a cupboard that gives an approx K wh reading that can be reset to zero after each trip,if it shows voltage and amps then that would be a bonus.Looking for recommendations

I appreciate that, and similarly I was looking for a resettable one ( but I haven't found it) yet but the problem is there are now so many cheap ones available (mainly made in China) which make claims such as 80A capacity, but in reality they're only rated for 5A continuous. Having bought one and seen several others I have serious reservations about their claimed capacity, and whether they are genuinely compliant with CE or UKCA requirements.

With a caravan, you're very likely to be using more than 5A for long periods and that could lead to the units overheating.

Thankyou for the reminder, however the form doesn't meet my needs.

I have not fitted a power meter in a van, I did fit one a coupe of years ago in my workshop, purely to help identify if there was any power correction required for the various machines.

They are cheap and plentiful ! and yes mainly made in China, but then so is my lathe!
