Hello again!

I'm interested in sites in Lanarkshire for the next issue's regional guide. Has anyone got any recommendations? There don't seem to be a lot of caravan sites, and yet there is so much to see.

Thanks,

Bryony

I take it you are looking at Lanarkshire rather than Glasgow area. On that basis the only site I know is Strathclyde Park CC but I assume you know that, according to North Lanarkshire Council it is the only licensed site in their area.. A typical CC site but plagued at the moment with major roadworks. T
here is a site at Abington called Mount view and also Biggar Park at Biggar but I have never used either of them. Red Deer in Glasgow is about the only other alternative I know of. Those apart I think you are looking at CL's.
For attractions for lovers of industrial museums there is Summerlea at Coatbridge with several steam engines, a tram ride, miners cottages and a pit with a huge play area for children. There is the David Livingstone Centre at Blantyre, the huge Strathclyde Country Park with its Olympic rowing course, a theme Park and Chateleraut Glasgow has a large number of free museums plus Pollock House within easy reach. Lanark has the New Lanark what I believe is the original village giving workers good conditions with a ride in the centre exploring its history and displays of the old weaving equipment and a walk through the woods to the Falls of Clyde.

We stayed at Strathclyde Country Park CC site last August. A well spaced out and newish site. First class facilities and pitches arranged in curves so you never over look your neighbour.Five minutes walk away is a Beefeater style pub come restaurant reasonable food inxpensive.Spend some time in Glasgow City.
A mile from site is Bellshill Station on the main line between Glasgow and Edinburgh. £4.63 return to Glasgow Central with free car parking. Get the site seeing bus in Glasgow and enjoy all the sites as Ray described. The Transport museum out on the Clyde is excellent.
Strathclyde Park itself has lots to offer. Hamilton down the road 4 miles has the best Indian and Chinese takeaways and restaurants we have enjoyed in a long time.A drive out to the the Falkirk Wheel and the infamous Kelpies must not be missed.
