LCD TV RECEPTION IN N.IRELAND

Hi everyone

Hubby and I would love to buy a flat screen LCD tv for the caravan but have heard that there would be a bad reception where we live here in N Ireland.

Does anyone have any experience of using this type of tv here and if so your comments would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Janet

No difference in TV reception for LCD TV's, Janet. So you can buy with confidence. There may be a difference if you plan to buy one that is digital. Reception from the standard flying saucer aerial, because its omni directional, is not so good, so you will struggle in a lot of places to pick up digital broadcasts. You have a choice though, by an LCD TV that is analogue (you can always get a set top box for digital later)or upgrade your aerial if your present one isn't so good.

Thanks Lol - we usually get a decent picture on our normal portable tv in the caravan but as you say that is through a separate aerial and not from the standard flying saucer aerial.

Thanks again for you help - we will certainly look at buying one now!

Hi Janet, We use a flatscreen LCD (15") in our caravan, which we keep in Fermanagh, Not the best place for TV reception, and get very satisfactory results!!

PS, we just use a set top aerial!

For freeview reception try

Using postcode search should give an indication of signal strength.

As someone else said the type of TV display has no bearing on reception - the vast majority of LCD TVs still have analogue recievers even if they have digital recievers as well.

Some TVs based on PC screens have freeview only - but they are not very common
