has anyone else had any water come through their caravan door, the weather was very bad but surely this is not normal. My worry is that over the winter there could be a considerable amount of damage caused. I have checked the seals and all look fine. any suggestions or was this a freak one off?

A leaking door is not normal, and you are right to be concerned about the winter month as we seem to be experiencing far more freakish weather than only a few years ago.
Without seeing the actual door, no one on the forum could say if its the result of freak conditions or a fault with the seals or frame.
The obvious thing to do is to get it checked by the dealer.

If you log onto www.caravanchannel.com and click onto video central page there are two short videos part 1 & 2 of a swift factory tour where you will see a sprite being assembled from scratch , part 2 shows how they fit the roof, The speed they fit components does not leave much time for errors.

I have a Sprite Major 6 that has just come back from repair by Swift at their factory in Hull. You do not say how old your van is but mine is a 2006 model. The door used to let water in especially whilst travelling in heavy rain and it took me 18 months to convince anyone there was a problem. In this time the water had damaged the whole rear dinette and the tv cupboard. Swift have been very good and the van is like new with all water damaged parts renewed, door repaired and a cheque for my mileage done whilst trying to sort it all out. Incidentally the water was getting in under the little metal tread strip at the bottom of the door - it was stuck on with tape and not sealed to the door frame.This allowed water in the drain channel to get into the van where two internal panels meet at the bottom of the door. Im not saying thats your problem but its a good bet.
