Leaving Heki rooflights open on ventilation setting whilst va...

Does anyone do this/has done this? Is it a good idea? My new van has two large Heki's (front and rear) and am considering leaving them on the ventilation setting whilst van stored over winter. Alarm will be on - insurance insists.

Thanks in advance

John

Usually Caravan manufactures place small "ports or Breathing holes" in the floor of the van to aid air circulation of the van .

If you were to leave the Heki's in a slightly raised position then it's not "secure" (the debate starts now)

But more importantly they can ingress air and water because of vibration or wind turbulence (despite) Dometic saying other wise we left our van Heki in this position for only a few hours whilst we went out we came back to the van in a thunderstorm guess what we had leak caused because the water was hitting the van roof with such velocity that it was bouncing into the cavity of the heki dome.

No need to leave them open at all as all heki roof lights have ventilation slots round the edges, you can see the perforations around the roof light, when i tried to get a replacement roof light (mini heki) for a van we had a few years ago the dealer asked me if it was being fitted in a living area and if so it had to have natural ventilation whilst closed by law.
